Volunteering

Volunteers are the backbone of the Voices Against Violence program. In fact, in 1982, the program was known as Volunteers Against Violence! There were no employees — we were all volunteers. Voices Against Violence has only been able to provide comprehensive services, because of our communities’ generosity.

Many of our volunteer opportunities are listed below.

I WANT TO HELP AT THE SHELTER!
Voices Against Violence maintains a food pantry and clothing room that always needs volunteers to maintain it. Volunteers are needed to organize and sort clothing donations and to stock, rotate, and maintain the food pantry. These tasks can be accomplished in two-hour blocks once or twice a month. If you are interested in helping organize at the shelter, click here.

I WANT TO HELP WITH EVENTS!
In order for Voices Against Violence to maintain comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, it is imperative there are active fundraising activities planned throughout the year.  Fundraising takes many hours to plan and implement, so there are many opportunities for volunteer participation. If you are interested in helping with events, click here.

I WANT TO DO A SERVICE PROJECT!
We welcome groups that would like to do service projects.  There are many options to fit the needs of your group which could be gardening, food drives, and/or shelter upkeep. These can be planned in advance and can range from a few hours to a day's work. If you are interested in bringing a group for a service project, click here.

I CAN HELP WITH MAINTENANCE!

Our shelter is often in need of repairs. Volunteers are routinely needed for projects such as painting, yard work, gardening, and general maintenance such as hooking up laundry facilities, moving large objects, etc. If you are interested in a few hours of maintenance, click here.

I WANT TO ADOPT-A-ROOM!

We strive to make our shelter a warm, caring, and inviting environment for the victims that we serve. Volunteer organizations, groups, or individuals can adopt a room to paint and redecorate with new comforters, sheets, curtains, and wall decorations. If you or a group/team would like to Adopt a Room, click here.

WE NEED YOU!! FIND OUT HOW YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
